Updated news and comments from all around the SNIFL
Ripnrun United it's the 4th best team of SNIFL's
Division 2
Saturday, 15 April 2006. The last game of the season
was at home, against already demoted Black Lion, but Gimenez said
to his team that a Ripnrun players should play always giving all,
because that's what the fans deserve for their support. With that
on mind, Ripnrun attacked Black Lion from kick off to the final
whistle... But football has his things, and the local woned only
because Black Lion's defender B_Deere miskicked a ball, putting
it on his own net.
After being selected Ripnrun's Player of the Season,
the top scorer of Ripnrun, german forward S_Mitchell said:
"Well, was a tough match against Black Lion.
Even when we had the ball and the chances, P_Robson (Lion's goalkeeper)
had an excellent game and we can't score to secure a win until Deere's
bad luck saved us. Winning like that wasn't what we had on mind...
But, hey, that doesn't matter right now, because we made a good
game, and an even better season."
Ripnrun United finished the season fourth, behind
Division champions World Wonders, runners-up Manic City FC, and
losing the third place to MC_Poachers for goal difference (+9 against
+2.) One Ripnrun's Board press statement declared that they were
"delighted" with their coach and players.

Paul Grant's scouting delivers Klemi_Saban
Saturday, 8 April 2006. After reading the detailed
profile elaborated by the scout Paul Grant and watching carefully
a video with highlights of the player's career, the Ripnrun United
managment staff decided to contract the Israel defender Klemi_Saban.
At his 23 years, Saban it's a regular of his national
team's lineups, even when he hasn't established as a first team
player yet. About his new signing, the Ripnrun Manager, Sebastián
Giménez, said:
"Was a very discussed signing because some
of my Assistants pointed out that we really don't need a defender
right now, and the representative of the Board 'reminded' us that
after the signings of Overby and Dorn we can't afford to keep on
spending...
On my mind, the price wasn't an issue -I believe
that, after all, we've got a fair price for him-, but the fact that
he won't be a starter yes. We decided to invite the player to know
him better and see him on the field; he demonstrated to be a very
polivalent defender capable of reaching the rival's goal; and after
the interview I knew that we must sign him: We've talked fair and
straight; he knows that he'll find a hard way to the first team,
but even so, he wants to play for us. That sealed the matter: I
always'll need more of that brave and professional attitude on my
team.
I think he's a player with potential and a worthy
professional, if we can mix that with some quality minutes on the
field, I'm sure that Klemi'll be a useful addition to our team."
The arrival of Klemi_Saban to Runners Yard it's
expected to the next monday.
